Customized Advising

Supporting students to chart their own path

Services

FLOW advising can benefit a student as early as 9th grade. All of our support is customized to meet the needs and goals of your student or group. We work with you to design a curricular flow that can combine any of our 4 core topics based on your student’s needs.

We recommend a minimum of 6-8 sessions, but students often opt to meet 2-4 hours/week for a semester or longer. We’re able to offer an individualized crash course in college planning or spend a full-year working with your student to plan their future.

Above all, we’re not just about checking boxes and getting into a good college. FLOW challenges students to examine their values, identify what truly matters to them, and ultimately find their voice.

Core Topics

    • Helping students authentically and creatively tell their story so they stand out

    • FLOW’s Role: Part strategist; stress management navigator; unassuming admissions guru

      • Like a traditional college counselor, but…not at all

    • Challenging students to think deeply about how their skills, talents, and interests translate into meaningful opportunities

    • FLOW’s Role: Part adulting-guide; part Socratic mad scientist; full proponent of mindfulness as a superpower

      • Like the quirky Gifted and Talented class that’s actually cool….(apologies to the Gifted and Talented teachers out there)

    • Example Topics/Key Questions:

      • Who am I and what do I value?

      • Is there merit in doing what I don’t like?
